Ashley Mariko Johnson founded Mohala Eyewear in December 2017, sunglasses designed to fit all face shapes and every pair sends a girl to school. Mohala Eyewear has donated over 40 years of school to Room to Read Girls’ Education Program in under three years. Ashley graduated from Punahou School and attended Santa Clara University earning a degree in English and a minor in Ethnic Studies. She has 13 years of experience in retail operations and human resources. Mohala Eyewear was awarded the 2020 People’s Choice StarUp of the Year by the Hawaii Venture Capital Association. They have also been named ‘Best Locally Designed Sunglasses’ in 2019 by Honolulu Magazine and have been featured in Forbes, Shape Magazine, People en Espanol and Women’s Weekly.
