Shae Kamakaʻala, Esq. - Born and raised in the ahupuaʻa of Punaluʻu and Kahana, Koʻolauloa, Oʻahu, Shae Kamakaʻala comes from largely a subsistence fishing family, where making imu and communal sharing carries on today. A 2005 graduate from the Kamehameha Schools, to receiving her law degree with certificates in Native Hawaiian Rights and Environmental Law from the William S. Richardson School of Law in 2014, she has worked in private and public sector on issues and projects from watershed management plans, administrative rule making, land use, and land acquisitions statewide to inform solutions for Hawaiʻi. Solutions grounded in the depths of indigenous knowledge and generational relationships to place.
