Yunji de Nies co-hosts Spotlight Now, a live weekly interview program that airs on Hawaii News Now. She also hosts the public affairs programs Insights and Kakou: Hawaii's Townhall on PBS Hawai’i. She previously hosted and produced Spotlight Hawaii, a Facebook livestream show that ran on the digital platforms of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, and is part of the team that launched daily news videos for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Digital Billboard Network.
For five years, Yunji anchored the evening news at KITV, the Honolulu ABC affiliate, and before that worked as a White House and National Correspondent for ABC News, based in Washington D.C. and Atlanta. She began her broadcasting career WGNO, the ABC affiliate in News Orleans, covering Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath. Yunji graduated with honors with a degree in political science from Yale University and holds a Master's Degree in journalism from UC Berkeley. She grew up on the Kona side of Hawaii Island.
